Local bus operator, First Bus Eastern Counties, has announced that fares are changing from 1^st January 2025, in response to the UK Government fare cap increase from £2.00 to £3.00.

Local bus operator First Bus in Somerset is revising its fare zones and updating its ticket pricing across its services.

• Bus fares will change on January 1 in line with the government’s new £3 fare cap.
• The majority (about 65%) of bus passengers will pay £2.40 for a single fare – 20% lower than the government cap.
• Anyone travelling over six miles will pay £3, potentially costing them as little as 6p per mile (service 374 Taunton to Bristol).
• Child single fare is frozen.

The changes, effective from 1 January 2025, introduce two revised, easy-to-understand fare zones, as well making changes to ticket prices, which have been frozen for the last two years.
