Changes are being made to Bristol’s bus network this autumn in readiness for the arrival of new electric buses from next year, according to First West of England.

Bus operator First West of England has announced changes to some of its fares from later this month.

• Bus operator First Wessex has joined forces with Weldmar Hospicecare as Transport Partner for the Stampede by the Sea art trail 
• First Wessex’s Jurassic Coaster will take passengers along the trail 
• Partnership will encourage bus usage as a sustainable travel option to the trail 

• The first bus depot in the UK to offer electric charging to the public is now open
• Purpose built hub in Cornwall offers fast charging for a family car in 30 minutes
• £1m investment from First Bus to provide the local area with charging infrastructure

New electric buses will serve communities in the county thanks to a joint funding bid by Somerset Council and First Bus South and huge investment from the bus operator. 

More than £30 million is to be invested in safer, greener and healthier travel in Basildon.

First West of England is to invest more than £50m introducing its first electric buses in the region.

• £89 million investment in 178 zero-emission buses and infrastructure across four regions 
• Worked with Local Authority Partners to secure £16 million of Government co-funding 
• Operator will run more than 800 Zero Emission vehicles across 14 electrified depots in the UK  

Somerset Council and First Bus South which operates Buses of Somerset have reached an agreement to ensure four routes in the county can continue to run for another year.
