As part of its commitment to supporting local communities and sustainable travel, First Bus East is proud to be the headline sponsor of this year’s event. The company is encouraging visitors to take advantage of its expanded services in the Maldon area, with free travel to the race on the new 333 service.

First Bus East recently announced enhanced services between Maldon, Heybridge and Chelmsford. From 20 April, routes 31, 331, 332 and 333 will operate seven days a week, with a bus every 30 minutes from Monday to Saturday, and hourly on Sundays—just in time for visitors heading to the Maldon Mud Race weekend.

We’re especially excited to offer free bus travel on the 333 on race day, making it even easier for people to come and enjoy the fun while choosing a greener way to travel.

"Our team is looking forward to joining the festivities, meeting residents, and showcasing how First Bus East of England is helping keep communities connected. We’d love for people to stop by our stand and say hello.”

The Maldon Mud Race returns to Maldon Promenade Park on Bank Holiday Sunday, 4 May 2025, from 10am–5pm. Expect a fantastic day out with artisan food and drink, exhibitor stands, and the thrilling spectacle of over 300 entrants in fancy dress taking on the mud challenge.
