First Bus scoops two top prizes at 2022 Route One Awards

  • First Bus were shortlisted in no less than seven categories for the annual Route One Awards.
  • Simon Carlisle from First West Yorkshire scooped Engineer of the Year, Large Operator Award.
  • First HDB’s Marc Reddy won the Manager of the Year, Large Operator Award.

First Bus scooped the two top people awards following a night of glitz and glamour at the prestigious 2022 Route One Awards held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Wednesday November 2.

First West Yorkshire’s Engineering Director scooped the prestigious Engineer of the Year award in the large operator category to kick off a successful night.

 Marc Reddy, representing First Hampshire, Dorset and Berkshire then scooped the Manager of the Year Award in the large Operator category.

First Bus were delighted to have a further five shortlisted entries with Mubarek Mahmed being a finalist in the Above and Beyond category, Morgan Bond from First West of England shortlisted in the Rising Star award, Chris Speed of First Eastern Counties also a finalist in the Manager of the Year category, First South West's Explorer, Adventures by Bus in the Customer experience category and First Glasgow being a finalist in the Environment Award category for the Electrification project at Caledonia Depot.

Andrew Jarvis, Chief Operating Officer for First Bus UK, said: “I am thrilled for all the shortlisted entries getting the rightful recognition for their stellar efforts throughout the course of the past 12 months. In particular, I would like to congratulate both Marc and Simon for winning their respective awards and both were very well deserved for their hard work and dedication over what has been a very challenging period for the industry. They are a credit to First Bus and the transport industry in general.”

First Bus had no less than seven shortlisted nominations in total on the night. Well done to all shortlisted entries.
