First Bus plays its part in powering the Commonwealth Games organising team

The operator’s depot at Scotstoun has been chosen to provide charging facilities for the organiser’s fleet of 100 electric cars.

The Games event management team will be criss-crossing the city in vehicles supplied by official sponsor BYD, supporting officials, volunteers and venues to help stage 10 sports throughout the 11 days of competition as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.

The First Bus depot at Scotstoun not only has the scale of power charging needed to support such a large fleet of cars and vans but is also ideally located just across the road from the Commonwealth Games offices on South Street.

The Games team will have full access between 8:00am-5:00pm when the First Bus fleet is out serving communities in the city and surrounding areas. The capability of the depot chargers means cars will be able to reach full charge in less than 30 minutes.

First Travel Solutions, a specialist contract services business within First Bus, is also closely involved in the Commonwealth Games. The company is an Official Supporter and is managing logistics and specially branded shuttle services to safely move more than 3,000 athletes, officials and VIPs around the city.
