First Bus to launch new express services direct to north west London

  • Links between Slough, Uxbridge and High Wycombe begin on Monday 2 March
  • Commuters have ‘genuine alternative to travelling by car’
  • Journey times of 20 minutes

First Bus in Berkshire and the Thames Valley will launch two new express bus services, offering faster, more direct journeys to Uxbridge in north west London from High Wycombe and Slough.

The services will begin on Monday 2 March.

George Burton, Head of Network, said: “These new services will give commuters a genuine alternative to travelling by car.”

New M40: Uxbridge – High Wycombe (Express via the M40)

The brand new M40 express service will run every 30 minutes, Monday to Saturday, providing a fast and direct link between Uxbridge and High Wycombe.

He added: “Using the same direct route as a car journey, the M40 will get people from High Wycombe to Uxbridge in as little as 20 minutes, helping customers save time, fuel and parking costs compared with driving.

“The service is designed specifically for commuters, offering a simple, reliable and stress-free way to travel between major Buckinghamshire towns and the outer suburbs of north west London, linking with the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines at Uxbridge station,” explained Goerge Burton

New X74: Slough – Uxbridge (Express)

First Bus’s already popular X74 service will be extended to Uxbridge from Slough via the Uxbridge Road, creating a new fast and direct link to and from Slough and Uxbridge. The service will continue to run its current route between High Wycombe and Slough via the Farnham Road, making it possible to travel to Uxbridge directly without changing bus.

The upgraded route will operate via Uxbridge Road, cutting existing journey times to around 20 minutes. Customers travelling from Britwell, Farnham Road and Godolphin will benefit from a direct, one-fare journey to Uxbridge, without the need to change buses.

George Burton added: “The service is ideal for both work and leisure travel, offering a quicker, more straightforward alternative to current routes through Langley and Iver. Our Service 3 will continue to operate and until late in the evening alongside this new route.”
